Marvel Animation‘s four-part animated anthology series, Eyes of Wakanda, will no longer premiere on Disney+ on August 27, 2025.

Eyes of Wakanda has had a few release dates since Marvel officially announced the Black Panther prequel series in December 2023. A 2024 release window was first reported, before Marvel unveiled an August 6, 2025 release date, which was then pushed back to three weeks to August 27, 2025. However, with August fast approaching, Marvel has made one final release date change.

What is the new Eyes of Wakanda release date?

Entertainment Weekly has reported that Eyes of Wakanda will now premiere on Friday, August 1, 2025, three-and-a-half weeks earlier than fans were expecting the Marvel animated series to arrive on Disney+. Additionally, all four of its half-hour episodes will be released on the streaming service at once, allowing for fans to binge the entirety of Eyes of Wakanda in one sitting.

Unlike Marvel’s previous three animated series — What If…?, X-Men ’97, and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man — Eyes of Wakanda takes place on the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s sacred timeline, meaning that the stories that will unfold across the four episodes are canon to the live-action Black Panther movies. Described as a globe-trotting adventure series, Eyes of Wakanda follows the Hatut Zaraze, brave Wakandan warriors who must complete dangerous missions to retrieve Vibranium artifacts from Wakanda’s enemies.

Eyes of Wakanda features the voices of Winnie Harlow, Cress Williams, Patricia Belcher, Lynn Whitfield, Jona Xiao, and Anika Noni Rose, among others. Xiao recently teased the scope of the MCU series, explaining, “The show is much more than just an expansion. It’s like this in-depth exploration of, like, the secrets and the history of Wakanda. You actually get to see how Wakanda secretly shapes world history, which is really cool, through the Hatut Zaraze. If you like the Dora Milaje, you’ll love this group of covert warriors.”

Ryan Coogler, the filmmaker behind Black Panther (2018) and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2023), developed Eyes of Wakanda and serves as an executive producer alongside Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Zinzi Coogler, Sev Ohanian, Kalia King, and Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt.

All four episodes of Eyes of Wakanda drop onto Disney+ on August 1, 2025.
