Curious to know why the police arrested Johnny in Days of Our Lives? The previous developments reveal that Johnny was present at the time EJ took the bullet. Although he did argue with his father and pointed a gun at him, he confessed that he didn’t pull the trigger and believed that someone else was responsible for the shooting. However, despite confessing to being innocent, why did the officials take him to prison?
Here are all the details.
Why Days of Our Lives’ Johnny gets arrested
Johnny was arrested due to his involvement in EJ’s shooting. Roman’s gun was found outside the mansion with one missing bullet. While Johnny confessed he took the gun, he denied shooting it. This led to Marlena and Roman previously realising that someone else might have shot EJ.
The latest storyline follows Rafe revealing to Gabi that Johnny had denied involvement in EJ’s shooting. However, Gabi has a hard time trusting Johnny and believes that the police would not believe his confession either. Moreover, Rafe believes that Johnny turning himself in will give him a chance to have a fair trial, which might ultimately prove his innocence. While Gabi wants Rafe’s plan to work, she is fearful that EJ might take revenge on her for putting his son behind bars.
At Horton Town Square, EJ pleads with Jada not to arrest his son, but she refuses and begins reading Johnny his rights as she cuffs him. Chanel arrives at the scene and asks Johnny if he committed the crime, but he maintains his innocence. EJ quickly urges Johnny to stay silent and threatens Jada. He then tells her that he remembers Johnny holding the gun, but claims his son later handed it over to him. Jada, however, dismisses his statement and advises him to get a good lawyer as she takes Johnny away.
Later, Chanel asks EJ to summarise the series of events that took place on the night of his shooting. While EJ earlier believed Johnny was responsible for shooting, he later believed his son’s claims. He then blamed Rafe for getting his son arrested. After Chanel showcases his support for Johnny, she learns that Paulina is responsible for his arrest.
Furthermore, Chanel requests that the officers give her a moment alone with Johnny in the interrogation room. She questions Johnny as to why he didn’t confess about holding the gun earlier to her. He claims that he was ashamed and believed that his confession would lead to him being convicted of a murder he didn’t commit. She consoles him that it isn’t his fault and reveals, “Mama was the one who stabbed us in the back.”
