Siri will again be on hand when you prefer to bark commands at a voice assistant. However, how next-generation Siri will precisely work in CarPlay Ultra, as Apple&#8217;s AI tech develops, remains unclear\u2014but from launch, essentially, the tech mirrors the phone experience. That means if you have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/tag\/chatgpt\/\" target=\"_blank\">ChatGPT<\/a>-powered <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/story\/apple-intelligence-isnt-ready-to-wow-you-yet\/\" target=\"_blank\">Apple Intelligence<\/a> enabled on your iPhone, the in-car UI will ask for a voice command to shunt a query to Open AI&#8217;s model or stick with on-device Siri.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\">Conversely, in what could be seen as unfortunate timing for Apple, Google beat the news of CarPlay Ultra to the punch with the announcement of Gemini for cars just a few days ago\u2014and we\u2019ve already got <a data-offer-url=\"https:\/\/blog.google\/products\/android\/gemini-for-cars\/\" class=\"external-link\" data-event-click=\"{&quot;element&quot;:&quot;ExternalLink&quot;,&quot;outgoingURL&quot;:&quot;https:\/\/blog.google\/products\/android\/gemini-for-cars\/&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.google\/products\/android\/gemini-for-cars\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">more detail<\/a> on how Gemini will enhance the driving experience than we have on Siri at this point.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\">This includes helping you craft text messages on the go, find good restaurants en route, and even brainstorm on the way to a meeting.
