Last month, a<\/span> surreptitious early glimpse of TAG Heuer<\/a>\u2019s full-scale revival\u2014officially revealed today\u2014of its iconic plastic-cased 1980s watch<\/a>, the \u201cFormula 1,\u201d appeared in the fitting setting of the Grand Prix racetrack.<\/p>\n

For the 2025 F1<\/a> season, the watchmaker, appointed the sport\u2019s official timekeeper under a mega-sponsorship deal<\/a> inked by its parent company, luxury conglomerate LVMH, has installed an eye-catching clock tower above the pit lane. The clock\u2019s dive-style dial, \u201cMercedes\u201d hour hand, and notched, bright-red bezel were instantly recognizable to anyone familiar with the original multicolored Formula 1 watch\u2014which launched in 1986 and sold in its millions\u2014or with the limited remake that briefly appeared last year, as a collaboration<\/a> with the US streetwear label Kith.<\/p>\n

Eagle-eyed TAG Heuer super-buffs (of which there are plenty) will also have spotted details that suggested something new: bolder dial proportions, squarer numerals on the bezel, and the modern TAG Heuer logo.<\/p>\n

Sure enough, this is the format for the new take on the old favorite, announced today as a full, entry-level addition to the watch brand\u2019s product line-up\u2014albeit, at 38 mm, somewhat bigger than the original (the old model was 35 mm). Subtle design enhancements are deployed to give it a more contemporary feel: applied luminous hour markers, crisper hands, and a sleeker, more angular interpretation of the old case-shape, with its \u201chooded\u201d lug protuberances originally designed to reinforce the plastic casing around the strap attachment.<\/p>\n
