Also, price may be an issue for some homeowners. The Elite plan starts at $80 a month, and the cheapest plan they have is $50 a month, so they\u2019re a little pricier than some competitors.<\/p>\n<p>Another downside is their emergency services. If you submit a claim for an emergency, Old Republic will speed their response time up to 24 hours, which is no different than most providers\u2019 normal response times, so it\u2019s not very helpful. They may also charge you extra fees for non-emergency after-hours service requests, so be wary of any hidden costs.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, when I requested a quote for a colleague\u2019s California home, I was able to get a direct quote from FAHW with no issues. This suggests that FAHW\u2019s direct service area may be more limited than they imply. I\u2019d like to see greater transparency from the company about which states they serve directly and which are through third-party partnerships.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m also not thrilled with FAHW\u2019s coverage caps for HVAC systems. With HVAC repairs and replacements easily running thousands of dollars, I worry that $1,500 may leave some homeowners with high out-of-pocket costs. The Elite plan is definitely on the pricey side, but the other two protection plan options are reasonable.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However, <strong>you could end up with extra fees<\/strong> (including overtime) if you request non-emergency services after hours. This could increase your overall costs, which hurt Old Republic\u2019s score. Still, because their rates are reasonable for the coverage they provide, I gave Old Republic Home Protection an 8.2 for their cost and affordability.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Old Republic Home Protection Customer Experience<\/h2>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4.5\/5<\/h3>\n<p>Old Republic Home Protection is tied with AFC Home Warranty for the best customer experience score among providers we\u2019ve reviewed, mainly because of their good customer feedback and hassle-free service. ORHP has a 30-day service guarantee and a 30-day waiting period, which are both normal timeframes for home warranty companies, but what really sets them apart is how little they pester the customer after submitting a quote. Other companies may reach out repeatedly after you submit your information online, but Old Republic Home Protection only sent me a few emails to confirm my information and send me my quote details. Compared to competitors that blast text messages out to new customers, this was a breath of fresh air.<\/p>\n<p>Also, Old Republic has impressive online reviews showcasing how great the plan holders\u2019 experiences were. For instance, one Google reviewer said:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cMy AC went out in the middle of a heatwave, and Old Republic handled it all. Their contractor arrived on time, as scheduled, and fixed the problem (blown motor) quickly. No [money] out-of-pocket, [I] just had to pay the service fee.
